All four seasons offer their own unique charm amidst the rustic and authentic horse farm

In Summer,  the shade trees allow plenty of delightful places to relax and enjoy the horse and ponies at play.

In Spring,  you may want to feed our beautiful donkey, Cheyenne and  delight in the beautiful autumn colours as you walk around the farm.

The sunshine hours in winter are among the longest in New Zealand so you can enjoy a relaxing walk to feed the horses, ponies and donkey, and return to curl up by one of the fireplaces with a good book, hot coffee and delicious homemade baking.

Our luxury lodge is ideally located in the Bay of Plenty, 20 minutes’ drive from central Tauranga and just over 2 hours from Auckland Airport. We have many iconic New Zealand attractions within reach - from the Coromandel, famous for its coastal scenery and rich history, to the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, Lake Taupo and the dramatic Huka Falls, or the home of the Hobbit movie set in Matamata.

Closer to home are the cafes and shops of Tauranga City and Mt Maunganui, an extinct volcanic cone that gives the neighbouring beach and town its name. The Mount dominates the surrounding landscape and is a hugely popular place to walk with absolutely stunning views from the summit, 360 degrees.

The Bay of Plenty region is particularly popular for the accessibility and range of beach and water based activities, glorious walks, arts and crafts, and artisan food producers - all easily reached from the French Country House.
